Are you feeling a pinch or sharp pain in the shoulder?
The shoulder allows the most range of motion compared to other joints in the body, hence allowing us to use our arms in multidirectional ways and often compromising.
Common Shoulder Pain Complaints:
- Rotator cuff tendonitis – compressed tendons in the shoulder.
- Frozen shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis) – leading to joint stiffness
- Bursitis – inflammation of the bursa (a fluid-filled sac between the tendon and bone or skin)
- Rotator cuff tears – separation of the rotator cuff from the bone
- Calcific tendonitis – calcium deposits occurring within the tendon
- Biceps tendon rupture – a rupture of the tendon of the biceps near the shoulder joint
- Dislocation – separation of the top of the arm bone from the scapula
Common activities and sports that may promote shoulder pain often involve excessive overhead motion like swimming, tennis, throwing sports, mixed martial arts and weightlifting.
Diagnosis of shoulder injuries requires a full history of problems, and physical examination. At Synergy our conservative approach will aim to reduce swelling and inflammation in the area, and adjustments to the knee and periphery can help restore range of movement and provide appropriate exercises following shoulder injuries.
